RESTORED STORIES
The Birds
These sisters live and work in rural Wisconsin. They never had the opportunity to vacation much, but made a trip to Florida possible one Summer in the 60s. This photo's only copy, once discolored, reminds them of the joyous time they shared on their road trip (though one may be more excited about the birds pictured here than the other)!
The Baby
Michelle lost many baby photos of herself due to a house fire when she was a child. This damaged photo of her on the steps of her lost home in the early 1970's was given to Michelle and is one of the few images she has of her childhood. Seeing evidence that she existed within this place she loved so much was and is very important for Michelle.
The Living Room
Mike and Dianne's house burned down in the the early 1980s. When this happened, the couple were left with no images from throughout their lives nor any images of the first home they shared together. This photo of their living room is from a series of images gifted to them by another couple who Mike and Dianne beat out in purchasing this house in the early 70s. When the secnd couple found out they did not get the home, they ripped up their photos of it and threw them in a drawer. When they found out Mike and Dianne lost the home to an electrical fire, the pair dug the ripped images of Mike and Dianne's house out, taped them up, and delivered them to Mike and Dianne to have.
The Family
This is a photo of Melissa's dad, a first generation American, and her grandparents.
The Barn
The Marsolek Family emigrated to the United States in the late 1800s from Poland. Their family barn stands in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This photo of the barn from the 1960s was underexposed and damaged by dust on film negatives.
The Graduate
High School graduation photo of Mrs. Jamicky's mother in 1961. She wanted to have this image restored for her mother who is turning 78 in 2021.
